The most important aspect of the process of unification to affect trade is the harmonization of rules of the EU countries. The internal borders among the countries have been removed because of this unification that has allowed free movement of capital, goods, services and people. Yet another important advantage is that the goods produced or imported into one member state can be moved around between the other member states without restrictions.

A precondition for this free movement is uniformity in the rules and regulations concerning locally produced or imported products. On the other end, an important point to be noted is that not all the regulations have yet been harmonized. Work is in progress in the fields of environmental pollution, health, safety, quality and education. There are a number of online websites available that can help one to collect more information about harmonization of the regulations.
